Jim Ellis, a native Texan, started his career as a graphic designer working for
the to greeting card company in Kansas City, then two design studios in Houston before
forming Jim EllisDesign, Inc., then JimEllisStudio.
During the years of being a graphic designer, he traveled extensively, collecting fine
art of all disciplines and styles. The effect of his collecting influenced his work as a designer
and now as a painter. These influences can be recognized in his contemporary approach
to all of his painting styles: contemporary, abstract and impressionistic styles.
Described as a colorist, his work reflects that description.
